Just one game behind the first-place Tennessee Volunteers and Alabama Crimson Tide with three regular season conference games remaining, Lamont Paris and the South Carolina Gamecocks are looking to remain in the race for the regular season title and notch another résumé-building win in the process. They'll get the opportunity to accomplish both of those tasks tomorrow afternoon against the Florida Gators.

The Gators have been on a tear since January 17th, winning nine of their last eleven games, with their two losses coming on the road against then-No. 13 Alabama and Texas A&M by a combined point margin of six points. The primary catalyst for Florida's success is their fast-paced offense (30th fastest tempo in the country per KenPom), as the Gators rank 38th in the country in fastbreak points per game (13.61). Todd Golden's team is also proficient at crashing the glass on the offensive glass, ranking second in the country in that respective category, averaging 15.82 offensive boards per contest.

However, while Florida excels on the offensive end, they struggle on the defensive end, giving up 77 points per game (ranked 305th out of 362 D1 teams) and consistently finding themselves in disadvantageous positions, leading to an average of 17.8 fouls committed per game. In their two road games against two teams who ranked 181st or lower in KenPom's adjusted tempo metric, Ole Miss and Texas A&M, the Gators lost by 18 points and one point, respectively. On the other hand, the Gamecocks have only faced four SEC teams at home who rank 181st or higher in adjusted temp: Kentucky, LSU, Georgia, and Mississippi State, and have gone 2-2 under those circumstances.

This bout could come down to the wire, so everyone must do their part. South Carolina's frontcourt will have to make sure they box out on the defensive glass while the guards don't make any uncharacteristic mistakes and take what the defense gives them on the offensive end. If the Gamecocks can accomplish both of those tasks, it could lead to victory in their second-to-last home game of the season.
