REPORT: Gamecocks Dispense Offer To Portal Wideout From Michigan State
There's no question that South Carolina's Football staff has multiple needs they need to address through the transfer portal this offseason, perhaps none bigger than at the wide receiver position. The Gamecocks already have five wideouts who are expected to enter the portal, including Antwane Wells Jr., and have sent out several offers to receivers who have dominated at the Group of 5 level or have experience at the Power 4 level.
Per 247Sports Midwest Football Recruiting reporter Allen Trieu, Carolina is going back to the Power 4 level for their most recent offer, as they're expressing interest in Michigan State wide receiver Christian Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick, a rising redshirt senior, posted career highs in each major statistical category in 2023, recording 18 receptions for 252 yards and one receiving touchdown.

164 of Christian's 252 receiving yards came in the first three games of Michigan State's 2023 season, which leads me to wonder if something occurred whether on the coaching staff, or through an injury that held him back the rest of the season. Either way, it appears that the Michigan native will be one to watch moving forward.
