How To Watch: South Carolina vs. Mississippi State

Tonight is an important night for Shane Beamer and South Carolina's Football program, as the Gamecocks will be looking to avoid just their second 1-3 start since the turn of the century. They'll be taking on a Mississippi State squad who will give them an excellent opportunity to bounce back from their gut-wrenching loss to Georgia this past weekend. The Bulldogs, however, should also be considered a dangerous opponent since they were flat-out embarrassed by LSU in week three because sometimes, there's no team more dangerous than one who feels like their collective pride is on the line.

The storylines in this game are plentiful, as Spencer Rattler and South Carolina's offense will face a different kind of challenge with the Bulldog's 3-3-5 hybrid defense, a scheme that's rarely seen in the SEC. Defensively, TJ Sanders and the rest of the defensive front will attempt to slow down Mississippi State's ground attack. You read that correctly; Mississippi State is a team that, unlike years past, will try to establish a strong ground game in order to dictate the flow of the contest.

Add in the fact that Gamecock legend Alshon Jeffery is getting his jersey retired and likely will have plenty of former teammates in attendance, and this has quickly become the most important game for South Carolina in quite a while.
