BJ Macks Includes South Carolina In Top 5

South Carolina's Basketball program has made latest cut for Wofford transfer BJ Mack.

Lamont Paris and his coaching staff are currently in the midst of a pivotal offseason, not just the first full offseason his staff has been in Columbia, but one in which the Gamecocks are having to fill in seven roster spots, and have seven scholarships available at their disposal. Coach Paris and Co. have already begun the process of building the roster in their image, having added players like Minnesota guard Ta'Lon Cooper and Citadel forward Stephen Clark, both of whom are going into their fifth seasons of college basketball this coming fall.

South Carolina, however, is particularly looking at adding more depth to their front court, an area that could never find enough two-way consistency this past season outside of flashes from Hayden Brown and Josh Gray. One target that could help the Gamecocks a great deal is Wofford transfer forward BJ Mack, who Lamont Paris has kept in consistent contact with since the North Carolina native entered the portal back in early March.

This persistence from Lamont and his staff, their prior history coaching against BJ Mack, along with the close proximity to home, has made the Gamecocks a significant player in this recruitment, and that continued on Tuesday afternoon with South Carolina making BJ Mack's Top 5.

Lamont was the first head coach to meet with Mack in person in this process and is looking add a proven and productive front court piece to a roster that desperately needs it.
