LOOK: 2025 IOL Jaylen Gilchrist Visits South Carolina

South Carolina's coaching staff has displayed how they want to recruit future classes and are sticking with it. The team wants to build a solid foundation via the trenches, where most people believe football games are won through solid play on the offensive and defensive lines.
As a result of this thinking, the team has been working hard to bring the best lineman to Columbia. The most recent example of the team's efforts points to Four-star Interior Offensive Lineman Jaylen Gilchrist, who was in Columbia this past weekend to check out the program.

The Virginia Beach native has risen to become one of the most prominent recruits in the country—ranking as the 92nd-best player and the fifth-best interior offensive lineman nationally.
South Carolina's dedication to scouring future classes for top linemen is also exemplified through the team's pursuit of top big men such as Nick Brooks and David Sanders. Being able to pair those two tackles with Gilchrist would create a consistent blockade at the line of scrimmage, which opposing defenses would struggle to break.
