SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey fires shot at Pac-12 programs and their playoff drought

In this story:
With college football over 90 days away, it leaves fans, players, coaches, and apparently commissioners of conferences with a lot of time on their hands.
While those of us on the West Coast are waiting for some clarity on the Pac-12's media rights and expansion front, SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey was recently discussing a different kind of expansion; playoff expansion.
In talking about the playoff and how it is soon to expand to 12 teams from four, Sankey fired what comes off as a slight jab at the Pac-12 and their playoff drought.
“Going to 12 brings people into the opportunity,” Sankey said. “It provides a national championship format and the reality is, we have not seen a Western team. I think TCU is the most Western team since Washington in 2016. When I look at the expansion and the reason for that is to bring people in to create opportunity.”
Assuming the Pac-12 doesn't implode before the playoff expands, the new playoff gives an automatic bid to the top six conference champions. This could very well feature a Pac-12 team yearly, and give the conference a shot at competing for a championship. However, before worrying about automatic bids the conference needs to focus on keeping their remaining 10 schools in the conference and securing a media rights deal.
