The Texas A&M Aggies are one of the most volatile baseball teams in the country, trying to find their footing in year two of head coach Michel Earley's reign as the head coach

Now they will have to do without one of their pitchers, as MJ Bollinger has left the team, according to Andrew Riedell of College Baseball Central.

This comes as a shocking move as Bollinger was one of the premier arms in the transfer portal and looked to be one of the most reliable arms for the Aggies this season as they pieced together their pitching staff on the year.

Mutual Decision

Bollinger has been an impressive pitcher at every stop during his career. He started out at San Jacinto Junior College in Texas, where he pitched to a 1.36 ERA in 33 innings while also adding 28 strikeouts as well. That same success followed him to the FAU Owls last season, where he pitched 44.2 innings and recorded a 2.01 ERA, 39 strikeouts and 11 saves on the year.

The Aggies were able to land the talented left-handed pitcher out of the portal, but he made just one appearance on the season. A person close to the situation tells Texas A&M Aggies on SI that it wasn't injury-related, and Bollinger wasn't getting the opportunities he wanted.

The decision to depart from the team came after the Aggies asked him to, following Bollinger's request for a redshirt this season. He will now enter the transfer portal and will pitch this summer in New England during the Cape Cod League.

For the Aggies, they are off to a better start this season than they found themselves last year, and are currently 23-5 on the year, and are ranked number 16 in the country according to D1Baseball. The success, however, hasn't come from the back of the pitching; instead, it's come from the offense, which ranks second in the SEC.

The pitching staff is an opposite story though; they rank 11th in the conference with a 4.44 ERA, despite having the fewest walks in the SEC. With 12 arms available on the staff now, the Aggies are using all of them as much as possible, especially in the backend of the bullpen, still finding a combination that works best for them.

With Bollinger departing, though, it will be the next man up for Earley's squad as they look to continue their success on the season and prove they are one of the better teams in the country.
