Former Texas A&M and now former New Mexico State Aggies quarterback Eli Stowers is on the move ... again.

Former Texas A&M and now former New Mexico State Aggies quarterback Eli Stowers is on the move ... again.

Stowers played in 15 games for the Aggies in 2023, er... um... the New Mexico State Aggies, but mostly at wide receiver. He tallied 35 catches for 366 yards and a pair of touchdown catches. He also carried the ball 28 times for 108 yards and another two scores on the ground.

But he only threw eight passes for 99 yards and a touchdown.

Stowers spent two seasons in College Station before transferring to Las Cruces. The Denton, Texas, native played in just five games combined in 2021 and 2022, earning an Offensive Scout Team award at the annual team banquet in 2022.

On3 ranked Stowers as a four-star prospect out of Guyer High School in Denton for the 2021 recruiting cycle, where he was labeled as the No 205 recruit for that year.

At New Mexico State, 2023 was a good season, with a 10-5 record before playing for the C-USA Championship and playing in the New Mexico Bowl. That regular season tally included an upset road win against SEC power Auburn.

Stowers never made the impact at quarterback in 2022 that some thought he might.

Haynes King began the year as the starter but was replaced by Max Johnson. When both were injured, coach Jimbo Fisher went with Conner Weigman over Stowers. Weigman finished off the season and provided the offensive spark the team needed.

Stowers entered the transfer portal that offseason.
