Kole Klecker Named Big 12 Pitcher Of The Week

It didn't take Kole Klecker long to gain traction in Fort Worth. The true freshman has been the most consistent arm on TCU's pitching staff this season. Despite year-long excellence, it was his latest performance that earned him his first Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honors. Klecker retired 23 of 26 batters faced en route to a 2-1 win Saturday night against Baylor.

Although he only rung up two batters, Klecker allowed just three hits in 7.0 innings pitched and picked up his eighth win of the season. The last-place Bears only bat .130 on the night. He leads TCU with an 8-4 record and a 4.18 ERA on the season.

While this is Klecker's first Pitcher of the Week award of his career, it's the third time a TCU Horned Frog arm has been donned it this season. Cam Brown was awarded the other two times back in March.

Other Horned Frogs to win conference awards this season include Austin Davis, Louis Rodriguez, and Anthony Silva.

Just one weekend series remains for TCU – a road stint with Kansas State – plus a midweek battle with Texas State. Beyond that, the Frogs move over to Arlington for the Big 12 Conference Tournament, beginning May 24. Performing well in that tournament will be critical in not just where TCU places in the NCAA Tournament but if they do at all.

Klecker projects to be a Saturday starter in Manhattan to close out the regular season.
