TCU Baseball Keeps Rolling With 6-3 Win Over UCLA

TCU took the second game of this three-game series with No. 20 UCLA by a 6-3 final. A three-run home run by Kurtis Byrne propelled the Horned Frogs to a win.
Peyton Chatagnier opened up the scoring in the bottom of the second when he brought Jack Baseer home on a sac fly. Karson Bowen reached on a fielder's choice to make it 2-0 in the third.
The Bruins (3-2) would respond in the fifth inning off of Kole Klecker courtesy of a sac fly by Cashel Dugger. That would be the only run Klecker would surrender. He had a nice bounce-back performance going 4.1 innings giving up six hits on one earned run with three strikeouts and no walks.
The game opened up in the sixth inning with Brody Green smacking a leadoff double. The junior has been excellent offensively over the last few days and holding up on the defensive end at third. With runners on the corners, Logan Maxwell laid down a perfect bunt to bring home Green to make it 3-1 TCU.
The biggest hit of the game came two batters later when Byrne connected on a 2-0 pitch to center field to make it 6-1 Frogs. Byrne went 2-4 on the day with 3 RBIs.

The Bruins crawled back in the eighth inning after an infield single and a sac fly to make it 6-3, but the door was shut on a double play from Anthony Silva. Chase Hoover recorded the final three outs to secure the sixth win of the season for TCU.
The back end of the bullpen was huge tonight. A combined effort from Braeden Sloan, Zachary Cawyer, and Hoover went 4.2 innings giving up two runs with seven strikeouts.
TCU is off to its first 6-0 start to the season since the 1994 campaign.
TCU will look for the sweep tomorrow as Zack Morris will likely toe the rubber for the Horned Frogs. First pitch is at 1 p.m.
