Pokes Spur Frogs, TCU Men's Basketball Falls To Oklahoma State

TCU men's basketball fell just short of a 19-point comeback in Stillwater, lose to Oklahoma State 79-73.

Emanuel Miller's 17 points weren't enough for the TCU Horned Frogs (17-6, 6-4) to mount a 19-point comeback at the Oklahoma State Cowboys (14-9, 5-5). TCU found themselves shellshocked off the opening tip as Oklahoma State jumped to an immediate 12-0 lead. From then on, it was all catchup time for the Frogs.

Star Mike Miles Jr. remained sidelined for the contest battling a knee injury suffered last week.

A couple quick scores to begin the second half from Oklahoma State ballooned the TCU deficit to 19, 48-29.

That's when TCU went on a 31-11 scoring run through the second half, ultimately claiming a 60-59 lead with just over five minutes remaining. The lead was short-lived and turned out to be their only command of the game.

Oklahoma State gave themselves a seven-point cushion with just over two minutes left and managed to play the free throw game to a 79-73 victory.

JaKobe Coles scored 15 points off the bench, his third straight game scoring double figures. Coles and Xavier Cook split minutes in replacement of Miles, but Cook got the starting nod in Stillwater. Chuck O'Bannon also saw an expanded role, scoring 11 in the loss.

The Frogs also shot a stellar 15/17 (81.9%) from the charity stripe, their second-best outing on the season.

While Oklahoma State historically has been a thorn in TCU's side (12-29 all-time), coach Jamie Dixon still holds a 11-8 record against the Pokes. However, the loss marks TCU's third in the last three games since notching a record-breaking win over Oklahoma.

A brutal stretch sets up for TCU. Tuesday night, they travel to Kansas State (who carries a two-game losing streak), a game broadcast at 8:00 p.m. CT on ESPNU. They follow up that game with a home date with top-15 Baylor (home) and Iowa State (away).
