TCU Women's Basketball Advances to the Big 12 Quarterfinal

In this story:
Just five days ago, TCU suffered a 84-61 loss at home against Kansas in their final regular season game. It tied for the third most points surrendered by the Frogs this season. That all changed Thursday night, when TCU knocked off the Jayhawks in an exciting 57-52 victory sending the Horned Frogs to the quarterfinals in the Big 12 tournament.
TCU kept it close in the first half trailing by four. The Frogs responded well to adversity and never let Kansas go on any significant runs. It was the third quarter that pushed things in favor of TCU. A 19 point third quarter gave them a massive momentum swing.

The Horned Frogs never trailed in the fourth quarter. Tomi Taiwo was aggressive on the offensive end finishing with 13 points and four rebounds. Bella Cravens hauled in 14 rebounds to go with nine points. TCU shot 8-20 from beyond the arc with contributions from Taiwo, Emily Fisher, Tara Manumaleuga, and Roxane Makolo. The defense was also strong holding the Jayhawks to a season low .294 field goal percentage.

This is a massive win for this group. Wins have been hard to come by. There is no sugarcoating it. And yet despite all the misfortunes, this team was resilient and came ready to play. They didn't lay down and fought from start to finish. However, the job is not yet finished as a tall task awaits them Friday night.
TCU will battle No. 14 Oklahoma at 5 p.m. in the Municipal Auditorium on ESPN+.
