Beach Volleyball: No. 6 TCU Goes 3-1 in Battle Of The Bay Matches

No. 6 TCU beach volleyball (7-1) takes first loss of the season to No. 2 Stanford.

No. 6 TCU beach volleyball team came out of the Battle of the Bay Classic with a 3-1 record moving their record to 7-1 early in the season.

After beginning their season 4-0 in the Third Coast College Classic in Houston, Texas, the Frogs traveled to Stanford, California for the Battle of the Bay over the weekend.

They got wins over Oregon, Saint Mary's, and UC Davis with their lone loss coming against No. 2 Stanford.

Two players delivered perfect 4-0 weekends:

"It was a good weekend overall considering the weather conditions," head coach Hector Gutierrez said. "We showed a great battle against Stanford but we couldn't pull it out at the end. The girls played hard all weekend which is always positive.

Friday, March 1

Loss At No. 2 Stanford 2-3

TCU drops their first match ever to Stanford, moving to 3-1 all time. However, Hamlett/Khmil beat Stanford's Hodel/Rockwall to win the AVCA Pairs National Championship.

Beat Oregon 5-0

The Frogs won the first matchup against Oregon in program history. Tara Patton and Brooke Sheely got the win in their first duo appearance of the season.

Saturday, March 2

Beat Saint Mary's 3-2

Hamlett/Khmil moved to 7-0 on the season and clinched the win for the Horned Frogs.

Beat UC Davis 5-0

TCU moves to 3-0 all-time against the Aggies. Keagan Polk/Hallie Corinne Frist and Luana Araco/Anete Namike get victories in their first duo matches together.

Even with the loss, the Frogs had another super successful weekend. They are off to a hot start and are on track for another awesome season.

Up Next: The Horned Frogs will travel home to Fort Worth to host the Horned Frog Challenge in their first home matches of the year. They start the weekend on Friday, March 8 against Stephen F. Austin at 11:30 a.m. CT.
