TCU Soccer: Cougars Draw Level and Snatch A Point

Brian, Castain score in Thursday’s 2-2 draw

Thursday, the TCU Horned Frogs welcomed the University of Houston Cougars to Garvey-Rosenthal Stadium where the two sides battled it out in a 2-2 draw.

The Frogs jumped out to an early lead courtesy of Seven Castain. Taking on a defender in the penalty area, Castain slid a left-footed shot into the net to give TCU a 1-0 lead after 19 minutes. Shortly after, Gracie Brian doubled the lead for TCU.

Olivia Hasler picked out Brian in the penalty area, and Brian calmly put TCU up 2-0 in the 27th minute. TCU saw out their two-goal lead into halftime in what was a solid first half. While it seemed the Frogs were well on their way to another conference victory, the Cougars had other ideas.

In the 68th minute, the Cougars lofted in a free kick from midfield. After taking a bounce, Aryanna Jimison controlled it and halved the deficit. Just six minutes later, Jimison scored yet again, this time from beyond the box.

Receiving the ball on the right side of the penalty area, Jimison knuckled a right-footed shot up and over goalkeeper Lauren Kellett. Getting some help from the underside of the crossbar, the ball crossed the line and drew the Cougars level in the 74th minute.

An unfortunate result for the Frogs considering the circumstances after the first half, they earned a positive result in what has been an enthralling Big 12 season. The team will have a quick turnaround for Sunday's final Big 12 home match of the season when the Frogs host the Baylor Bears at 1 p.m.
