Three TCU Women’s Teams Garner Academic Honors

Earlier this month, three TCU teams all earned All-Academic honors. These teams included women's beach volleyball, tennis, and track and field teams.
Beach Volleyball
The TCU Beach Volleyball team earned the 2023 USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award. This award honors volleyball teams at all levels that maintain a year-long grade point average (GPA) of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale.
TCU was one of 66 women's beach volleyball teams to earn the honor and one of 1,333 collegiate and high school volleyball teams nationwide.
TCU is a back-to-back award winner and earned USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award honors for the first time in 2022.
The TCU Beach Volleyball program has transformed into one of the most successful in the country over the last three seasons. The Horned Frogs went 37-3 and received their first No. 1 ranking in the AVCA Coaches and CollegeBeachVB.com polls and held that honor for six consecutive weeks during the 2023 season. Five Frogs have received seven AVCA All-American honors, including AVCA Pair of the Year Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno this past season.
Women's Tennis
The TCU Women's Tennis Team, for the fourth consecutive season, was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team. In addition, Tiphanie Lemaitre earned the 2023 ITA Scholar-Athlete Award in her first year on the team.
For a team to earn this honor, it must maintain a team GPA of 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale. To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, a player must have a 3.5 or higher for the entire academic year.
In 2023, 1,513 Division I women's tennis student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, and 234 women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.
"When our ladies join our program, they know they are also joining an elite academic institution," head coach Lee Taylor Walker said. "Not many universities are excelling in both athletics and academics, TCU is. I'm proud of the team for pursuing excellence both on and off the court this season. It says a lot about the type of people they are. Tiphanie holding down the top spot for us all year, being selected All-Big 12, and now this, speaks for itself. She's special."
Women's Track and Field
The TCU Women's Track and Field team was named a 2023 Division I Women's Track and Field All-Academic Team by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
To earn USTFCCCA All-Academic, the cumulative GPA for all student-athletes on the institution's NCAA Squad List for Indoor and/or Outdoor Track and Field must be 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. The Horned Frogs garnered the honor with an overall GPA of 3.145.
Additionally, four women's track and field team members earned NCAA Division I All-Academic honors. Quinn Calhoun, Gracie Morris, Jasmin Muhammad-Graham, and Dreunna Washington met the academic requirements by achieving at least a 3.25 overall GPA out of a 4.0 scale.
For the indoor season, athletes must have finished the season ranked in the top 96 in any championship individual event, or in the top 48 in any championship relay event, for the most recent indoor season. For the outdoor season, student-athletes must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships (the Preliminary Championship Competition and/or the Final Championship Competition) or, for the multi-events, must have finished the season ranked in the top 48 in the East or top 48 in the West for the most recent outdoor season.
Morris, Muhammad-Graham, and Washington all represented TCU at the NCAA West Preliminary during the 2023 outdoor season. Calhoun (pole vault), Morris (1500m), and Muhammad-Graham (800m) garnered podium finishes at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships.
