Clemson was one strike away not even 24 hours ago from advancing to a regional championship in their home ballpark. Now, the Tigers' season is over after losing to the champions out of Conference USA. Charlotte takes down Clemson by a score of 3-2 to get to the regional championship against Tennessee on Sunday night.

The Tigers outhit the 49ers 7 to 4 and got good outings from a lot of pitchers despite none of them going deep. Yet it was Charlotte who got a solo blast from Will Butcher and a single from Jack Dragum in the 7th inning to tie it and then take the lead for good.

Charlotte will have to beat Tennessee twice now to win the regional and that certainly won't be an easy task considering the 49ers will have played an extra game. Winning a regional out of the elimination bracket is always difficult, but against a team with the pitching depth of Tennessee, it makes it even more difficult.

The Vols got the best of Charlotte on Friday night beating the 49ers 8-1. The Vols got all of their production in that game from the top of the order as the first 5 guys accounted for all 11 hits. Andrew Lindsey was also spectacular pitching 7 innings in that one. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 P.M. Eastern.
