Tennessee Freshman Faces: Ethan Davis

Tennessee Volunteers tight end Ethan Davis could play an impact in his true freshman season, but the question is, how much of an impact will he have?

Georgia high school football is the cream of the crop when it comes to the competition, at least in my opinion. 7A Football in Georgia? Forget about it. That's where elite players are made. Programs like Grayson, Colquitt County, and of course, Collins Hill, alma mater to Vols freshman tight end Ethan Davis. Davis was teammates with Colorado playmaker Travis Hunter on an electric squad, where he boasted his playmaking abilities to draw the eyes of Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel's staff.

Those 7A battles prepared Davis for the next level in the SEC, and if his limited sample size from April's Orange and White game told us anything, it's that the transition will not phase him. In the ballgame, Davis had a few mega-impressive plays for anyone, let alone a freshman. The highlight was a frozen rope off the hand of Nico Iamaleava that Ethan could haul in right on the sideline down the field.

As far as Davis's athletic profile goes, he is a tank. At 6-5 and nearly 230 pounds, Davis possesses that elite combination of size and athleticism. The Collins Hill alumnus also doubled as a basketball star, breaking a school record with 40+ points in a game and being an all-region selection. However, football was always the calling card. Davis presents elite balance and great hands to the Volunteer offense. Looking at Tennessee's tight end depth, Davis stands to see some action early on, already being listed as the number two tight end on the depth chart for the Vols. If he and Joe Milton III have a connection the way it appears he and Iamaleava do, it will be a fun and electric fall for Ethan. As summer begins, the Georgia product will look to continue to bounce back from an injury suffered in the Spring game and hit the ground running.
