Antwann Hill Talks Vols Offense, Staff Relationships

In this story:
Relationships and fit are essential factors when recruiting quarterbacks. The future signal callers are making a potential massive investment in your program, meaning they must know what you can do for them during their college years.
It's why coaching staffs begin scouting the position well ahead of others. Tennessee may not have their entire 2024 recruiting board finalized until the final summer days; they know their top quarterback options for the next few recruiting classes and have known for months.
2025 quarterback Antwann Hill is undoubtedly a name on their radar. Hill is a Georgia native that plays football for Houston County High School. Tennessee offered him in the summer of 2022, and things haven't slowed. He has remained one of their top targets, and in each interview he does, he makes sure to mention the Vols.
Hill recently caught up with Dawgs Daily's Brooks Austin to discuss his recruitment. He updated things with Tennessee; he confirms that he has and continues to speak with newly minted offensive coordinator Joey Halzle.
One major pitch for Hill is the Vols' offense. Tennessee runs a style that would maximize Hill's physical gifts; he measures 6-5 and 215 pounds with loads of arm strength and athleticism. Hill can make any throw on the field but will need some early help from a system to get him comfortable. He discussed why he's intrigued by Tennessee's offense and the different layers to each decision.
"That offense, how they spread the ball out. They keep it simple; not too many crazy reads, they just keep it simple. Five-man box, we can run it, and then if we need to throw the ball, we can throw it out there."
Houston County runs a similar system to Tennessee; they go up-tempo and try to get the ball out quickly, maximizing their downfield opportunities with shifty receivers that are legitimate track runners. Hill appreciates the similarities between the two schemes and confirmed it enhances his conversations with coaches.
"It's most definitely similar, from the splits, the blocking schemes, the plays, all that. Choice routes, a bunch of those. It's very similar to Tennessee's offense."
Ole Miss, Auburn, Alabama, and Clemson are all reportedly active in this recruitment. Auburn may be one to watch here; new head coach Hugh Freeze has a history of developing physically gifted quarterbacks into NFL-caliber throwers.
The Vols seem intent on landing quarterback George MacIntyre as their signal caller in the 2025 class. Nonetheless, they have several options out there and will get a look at them these coming months.
