Bear Alexander Enters Transfer Portal

Georgia defensive tackle Bear Alexander entered the NCAA transfer portal on Saturday. Could the Tennessee Volunteers have interest?

Georgia defensive tackle Bear Alexander has entered the transfer portal, according to On3. Alexander was a five-star recruit in 2022 that had a winding recruitment that ultimately led him to Athens; he initially committed to Georgia before flipping to Texas A&M. Alexander found his way back to the Bulldogs and had an excellent true freshman season.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart makes it difficult for underclassmen to see the field, especially defensive linemen. If an elder statesmen is remotely close to the young player skill-wise, Smart will give the job to the elder. Alexander made it almost impossible for the coaching staff to keep him off the field; he logged 9 tackles and two sacks and two pass deflections.

He played a pivotal role in the CFP; Alexander had two tackles and a sack in the national championship win over the TCU Horned Frogs. However, sources confirm there was some fierce competition at Georgia's spring practices, and Alexander had no guarantees, as is customary at Georgia.

Tennessee offered Alexander out of high school, signifying at least some level of interest. He stands 6-3 and 305 pounds, down 20 from when he entered college. He would be a worthwhile addition to many programs, and it seems there will be no shortage of suitors.

He's also extremely athletic for such a giant young man and it's part of what makes him such a special prospect. For his size, Alexander is graceful.

Despite only playing half a season in 2020 due to transfer rules in the state of Texas, Alexander led his team to a Texas 5A D-I state title on his way to making the second team All-America squad from MaxPreps.
