Chavez Thompson Talks Tennessee Offer, Discusses Recruitment

In this story:
A few integral positions on both sides of the football let you know what head coaches value. Center is one of those positions; they are the quarterback of the offensive line and one of the most unheralded positions in the sport.
However, the best programs invest in finding the right center. Tennessee recently offered 2025 center Chavez Thompson, a Florida native nicknamed "Sandman." He holds 21 offers and has added Tennessee, Ole Miss, Purdue, Liberty, and Miami since his sophomore season ended.
Extremely Blessed to receive an offer from the University of Tennessee 🙏🏾🟠⚪️ @Vol_Football @EauGallieHC @cphat0421 @QNHall_Uno_JTG @Gelarbee @Coach_Nez_ @SWiltfong247 @ChadSimmons_ @adamgorney #EGscholarshipfactory pic.twitter.com/SwD8DXDSiF

He stands 6-1 and 270 pounds and aspires to play center at the next level. While things are still early in his recruitment, a few schools have begun to separate themselves.
"Right now, I'm hearing the most from Florida State, Miami, and Tennessee. So, that's who's standing out." - Thompson to Volunteer Country.
Thompson told us that he plans to visit a few schools this spring but only has one trip planned to Miami in the first week of March. The Hurricanes offered him on January 19, and head coach Mario Cristobal has done a great job recruiting Florida since arriving at Miami.
While a Florida native, Thompson was excited about the Tennessee offer. He has followed head coach Josh Heupel for years and considers them a primary contender.
"Everything is really good. I was really excited when they offered. I've been waiting on this one. Their success in the SEC and with Coach Heupel being at UCF, I'm very familiar with them. UCF is only about 40 minutes away from here."
His No. 1 ask of a program is for them to make him feel like a priority. Thompson has many options but wants to be recruited; he has been on campus at Florida State twice thus far, and that list should expand in the coming months.
