2025's No. 1 Player David Sanders Jr. Announces Visit To Tennessee

The No. 1 player in 2025, David Sanders Jr., announced a visit to Knoxville where he will get his first look at the Tennessee Volunteers.

Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel discussed his 2023 signing class in December 2022, shortly after early national signing day concluded. Heupel delivered an emphatic message not just to those players and not just to the media but to future prospects.

"These guys, a lot of them were already on board. Some of them came on board as the season unfolded. I think they understand the trajectory of where this program is headed, the fact that you can compete for championships, win national individual awards and achieve all your on-field goals right here while you're wearing the Power T, and you get to do it while you're having a heck of a lot of fun competing every day with guys inside the building."

The Vols intend to be a premier destination for America's top talent. They were at one point in time, and Heupel wants to continue that tradition. They began that process by signing the No. 1 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class, quarterback Nico Iamaleava. They are taking the 2024 cycle off of recruiting the No. 1 prospect. Quarterback Dylan Raiola is a hard pledge to the Georgia Bulldogs, not to mention Tennessee never extended an offer. However, they appear to be back in 2025. 2025 five-star offensive tackle, and America's No. 1 prospect, David Sanders, announced that he would be in Knoxville on Saturday.

Sanders is a polarizing prospect that every major program is after. Clemson doesn't offer underclassmen, but when they extended their first 2025 offer this past week, they made sure it was Sanders. Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina are all in comfortable places, and the Vols hope to add their name to that list. Volunteer Country evaluated Sanders in January and gave him a glowing review.

"6-7 and 255 pounds. Max Preps All-American. Two-time state champion. 24 offers. The consensus No. 1 player in America, the first time an offensive lineman to do that since Walker Little in 2017. These are all descriptors of Providence Day's David Sanders. He stands out on a team littered with P5 prospects, including star quarterback Jadyn Davis, one of the most recruited players in the country. While many high school offensive linemen have athleticism, they don't show it in translatable ways. You generally see them pull on counters and get to the second level, an athletic yet common feat when evaluating the best. Sanders' athletic profile is evident from how he gets off the ball. He is the first man to move on either side, getting in the correct position before the defensive lineman can process what happened."
