Four-Star CB Santana Wilson Includes Vols In Top Schools List

In this story:
The Tennessee Volunteers are searching for secondary help in the 2024 class. They have added Kaleb Beasley, Marcus Goree, and Edrees Farooq, all solid prospects that bring a lot to the table. However, the coaching staff is still searching for Beasley's running mate at the corner spot - 2024 four-star corner Santana Wilson may be their man.
Wilson is an Arizona native that has yet to see Rocky Top. He lives almost 1,800 miles from campus, making it difficult to plan trips. However, he hasn't had much time. Tennessee's coaching staff offered Wilson in late April, and has quickly formed a bond with the top-100 defender. Wilson began seriously considering the Vols, as they contact him daily. Those around the situation say that he plans to make an official visit to Tennessee, though he hasn't announced a trip yet. Wilson is beginning to narrow his focus on a few select programs; he released his top eight schools on Sunday: Tennessee, Texas A&M, Miami, Baylor, Texas, Oklahoma, Washington, and Arizona State.
The physical profile is intriguing. Wilson measures in at 6-1 and 180 pounds, sporting a 4.46-second 40-yard dash. That top-end athleticism is what the Vols want from a corner, someone that can run downfield with a receiver and limit explosive plays. The secondary was their biggest concern last season, partially because the coaching staff felt that with the available personnel, they had to play aggressively. Allowing corners to run with receivers in the man-scheme Tennessee runs gives the coaching staff the freedom to run more looks in the front seven, where they are also stockpiling talent.
