No. 2 Texas Bounces Back, Beats South Carolina 5-3 to Even Series: Live Game Log

When it comes to unpredictablility in sports, there is arguably no sport that deals with it more than college baseball. From upsets in midweeks to ranked teams dropping conference games they should win, there is always bound to be chaos.

So far this season the No. 2 Texas Longhorns (24-5, 7-3) have learned this lesson on multiple occasions. They've suffered more than one shocking midweek upset loss and most recently, they were beaten by the South Carolina Gamecocks (15-16, 2-8)

However, it was not just a regular loss. No, the Longhorns were outclassed in dominant fashion in what was a 9-1 thumping at the hands of the Gamecocks. It didn't take long for South Carolina to take control, either, as usually dependable staff ace Ruger Riojas suffered his worst outing of the season.

Can Texas bounce back in the second game against South Carolina?

He allowed five runs in the bottom of the second and another in the third, only lasting three innings before Texas had to go to the bullpen. The bullpen fared slightly better, as they only allowed two runs across the next sinnings -- both of which were charged to Brody Walls.

Offensively, the only production for Texas came on a solo home run from Aiden Robbins in the top of the third inning. Other than that it only produced five more hits and left nine men on base, as simply no success was had at the plate.

Fortunately for the Longhorns, it was only one game. Bad outings happen and when they do, you just have to shake them off and come back ready to go the next day. In this case, that will be in the form of left-hander Luke Harrison on the bump.

Harrison has been rock solid in SEC play so far and has provided a steady presence in the middle of the rotation, a trend he'll look to continue on Friday against the Gamecocks.

Follow along as we provide live at-bat by at-bat updates, with the Longhorns looking to bounce back and even the series against South Carolina on Friday evening from Founders Park.
