Despite an uninspiring showing from them in the Big 12 Tournament, the Texas Longhorns already had their tickets punched to the NCAA Tournament. However, rather than being a regional host they will now find themselves on the road to start their path to Omaha.

That path will start out east in Florida, as the Longhorns are heading out east to Florida. They will be the No. 2 seed in a tough Coral Gables Regional, hosted by the No. 1 seed and No. 9 national seed Miami Hurricanes.

Joining the Longhorns and Hurricanes in Coral Gables are the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns and Maine Black Bears as the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds, respectively. Texas will start its pursuit of a 39th College World Series appearance with a matchup against the Ragin' Cajuns.

The winner of the Coral Gables Regional will be paired up with the winner of the Palo Alto Regional, hosted by the No. 1 seed and No. 8 national seed Stanford Cardinal. After them, the Longhorns have experience with the three other teams.

At the No. 2 seed in Stanford's regional is the Texas A&M Aggies, the No. 3 seed goes to the Cal State Fullerton Titans and the No. 4 seed belongs to the San Jose State Spartans.

Making it back to Omaha is never an easy task, but if the Longhorns team that showed up against West Virginia makes their way to Coral Gables then they have a chance of starting strong.

For now, though, we wait to see just how good the Longhorns look in postseason play and if they can bounce back from a poor showing in Arlington. If they can, well, look out for a potential super regional berth.
