Cam Coleman's Transition From Auburn Has Been Smoother Than Anyone Expected

It's been a solid offseason of transformation for one of the newest Texas Longhorns.

The Texas Longhorns made headlines to begin the year back in January when Auburn Tigers wide receiver Cam Coleman announced that he would be transferring to Austin to join Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns.

Even with inconsistent quarterback play while with the Tigers, Coleman was still able to establish himself as a stellar receiver, and now that he's paired with Arch Manning, those numbers should only continue to rise as their chemistry continues to build.

But even since Coleman landed in the Lone Star State, it's almost like this was his home to begin with.

How Well Has Coleman Adapted To His New Home?

Coleman's highlights throughout training camp have been well documented, most notably a video of a jaw-dropping one-handed catch Coleman made in practice not too long ago that many would say "broke the internet."

Sarkisian also made headlines by comparing the collegiate star to future NFL Hall of Famer Julio Jones, drawing back from his days with the Atlanta Falcons as an offensive coordinator.

"Julio was similar that way, that ability to engage those high-point balls the way that he does, and still be a vertical threat," Sarkisian said. "Cam can still run. He's not just a possession guy. He can run, and Julio was that way."

Sarkisian also emphasized Coleman's demeanor, coachability, and effort, saying that "when your best players are your best practice players, they send a great message."

During SEC Media Days, Arch Manning applauded Coleman's ability to adapt on the field as well as his attitude off of the field and how fast and well the two formed a bond.

"Obviously he's a really good athlete, a freak athlete," Manning said. "But he's also a really good person and a very hard worker. We're excited to have him. He works really hard."

"The good thing about Cam and how we built our relationship is he always wants to throw he always wants to meet extra. And I think anytime you get a guy like that, it's easier for me to become close with. And he's also a good guy. He can joke, and we can go eat. And I'm excited to have him on my team, that's for sure."

Not to mention, Coleman himself has said that Texas' offense is a better fit than Auburn's, that he's getting to run more routes and is being moved around more often.

With his heart truly into it, it's no surprise at how quickly Coleman has taken to the Texas culture, and he has still yet to play an official down for the team.
