The Texas Longhorns were met with some sudden roster uncertainty prior to the second scrimmage of fall camp.

The Longhorns announced the dismissal of linebacker Ty'Anthony Smith due to what Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian called "conduct detrimental to the team." He's officially off the team's online roster as of Saturday morning.

But now, a father of another Texas player is hinting at the possibility of some deeper issues going on within the program, though it's hard to say if there's any basis to these claims.

Longhorns cornerback Hayward Howard Jr.'s father, Hayward Howard Sr., went viral on Saturday after delivering an epic rant directed at the Texas football program.

In an expletive-filled message, Howard Sr. wrote that he wants to "expose" things going on behind the scenes that fans are unaware of. It's impossible to say at this point what he could be referring to, but it's clear he's passionate about it.

"A lot of bull**** going on at Texas as a parent, I’m very disappointed," Howard Sr. wrote on X. "I did not play the politic games, my son play football and he does it very well."

"It's a lot of s*** going on y'all dont know, and I'm about to expose this s***," he continued.

That's quite the message to read from a parent of a Texas player, let alone in the middle of fall camp.

Howard Jr. is set to begin his true freshman season and will likely play a depth role in the secondary until he's earned more snaps. If this is an issue about playing time, Howard Sr. would be better off being patient with the coaching staff's process, though an all-caps, NSFW post on social media might signal that he feels there are bigger issues that need to be addressed.

Is this another Bonnie Thompson case for Texas? Who really knows.

Texas fans might never know what exactly Howard Sr. is referring to but it certainly marks a moment that will be talked about during the season and beyond.

Howard Jr. arrived to Texas this offseason as a four-star prospect in the 2026 recruiting class.

Based on what he showed during the team's spring scrimmage, he can become contributor in the secondary by next season.

While in front of hundreds of fans at DKR, Howard Jr. had a pair of pass breakups on back-to-back plays while the offense operated in the red zone.

He might not see the field much this season but there's been early signs that he can become a play-maker for the Texas defense in the foreseeable future.

Texas opens up the season on Sept. 5 against Texas State.
