Texas Football: Collin Johnson Undergoing 'Aggressive Treatment' for Hamstring

The Texas wide receiver has missed four games this year with a similar injury

Fresh off his second-straight 100-yard receiving performance, Texas' Collin Johnson is once again undergoing treatment for a hamstring injury.

The senior 'tweaked' his hamstring during the Longhorns 27-24 victory over Kansas State, according to Texas head coach Tom Herman and will undergo what Herman is calling 'aggressive treatment' to try and get back for this week's road date at Iowa State.

Johnson missed four games earlier this year after suffering a hamstring injury against Louisiana Tech. Since returning he has caught 28 passes for 389 yards and a touchdown.

He is coming off his best statistical game of the season so far against Kansas State in which he caught seven passes for 110 yards and a score.

Johnson's impact on the Texas offense goes beyond statistics, though. The senior's presence on the outside helps draw attention and coverage away from Devin Duvernay, who has also gone over 100 yards receiving in each of the past two games.

Expect freshman Malcolm Epps to get the start should Johnson not be ready. Epps started three games in his stead during his first injury absence.

Epps has 13 catches for 137 yards and a touchdown so far this year. Senior John Burt could also see time should Johnson be ruled out. Burt has 21 career starts and has caught five passes for 52 yards and a score.

Texas sits at 6-3 on the season with no margin for error if it wants to return to the Big 12 Championship Game for the second straight year. The Longhorns travel to Ames to take on Iowa State this weekend. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m.
