Texas football faced some adversity but proved it could win ugly in a 45-31 victory over West Virginia. Here are a few notes.

Game notes

Texas is 4-1 on the year, and starts conference play 2-0 for the second-straight season.

The Longhorns are 15-4 against unranked opponents during Tom Herman's tenure at Texas.

Texas held West Virginia to just 96 yards rushing, the third time this year they have held an opponent under the century mark.

Texas was 10-for-18 on third downs. The Longhorns came into the game second in the country in third down conversion percentage.

The Longhorns' four interceptions were the most since a 2017 win over Kansas.

D'Shawn Jamison

The Texas quarterback came up with his first career interception. He liked the feeling so much he went ahead and did it a second time later in the game.

Jamison played in relief of Josh Thompson and Jalen Green, both of which were injured against Oklahoma State.

He is the first Texas player with multiple interceptions in the same game since Caden Sterns had a pair of picks against TCU last season.

Devin Duvernay

The Texas receiver continues to be the most consistent target in the Longhorns' pass game. He caught six passes for 86 yards. He has at least six catches in every game so far this year.

Duvernay also scored his first rushing touchdown in his career.

Samuel Cosmi

The big man rumbled for a 12-yard rushing touchdown on a trick play. It was the first TD in the offensive tackle's career.

One would have to think Cosmi will be sporting a smile all the way back to Austin.

Ayodele Adeoye

The Texas linebacker was everywhere the Longhorns and his first-quarter interception (the first of his career) helped turn the tide and led to a then-game-tying Texas touchdown.

Sam Ehlinger

Ehlinger accounted for four touchdowns. It's the eighth time he's scored four or more times in one game and the fourth time in five contests this season.

He has passed for at least 200 yards in 15 of his 18 games. He has thrown 40 touchdowns and only five interceptions in his last 18 games. Texas is 14-4 during that time.

Ehlinger also tied James Brown for fourth in Texas history in passing touchdowns with 53.
