Longhorns vs. Alabama Date, Game Time Finalized
The Texas Longhorns will kick off against the Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 6 p.m. CT, the athletic department announced Tuesday.
This time, the Longhorns will travel to Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala. for the return game of their home-and-home series against the Crimson Tide. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
Last season in front of a DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium-record 105,213 fans, Texas had then-No. 1 Alabama on the ropes before falling 20-19 in a crushing loss. That game began in the early window of 11 a.m., but the two teams will now play in prime time.
In quarterback Quinn Ewers' second career start in Austin, he left the game with a sprained clavicle that caused him to miss three games. Hudson Card came in and went 14 for 22 with 158 yards.
Texas' only touchdown came on former running back Bijan Robinson's one-yard plunge at the beginning of the second quarter. The rest of the Longhorns' points were scored on kicker Bert Auburn's 4 for 5 day, though he missed a 20-yard attempt at the end of the first half that could've been the difference in the game.
Auburn's 49-yard go-ahead field goal with 1:29 to go wasn't enough, as Carolina Panthers No. 1 pick Bryce Young helped lead a nine-play, 61-yard drive to set up a game-winning 33-yarder from Will Reichard.
Alabama escaped with the victory, but the rematch with a new quarterback under center for the Crimson Tide could provide the same fireworks as the 2022 contest.
