Texas and Michigan Make Change to Home and Home Series

Two of the most historic programs in college football history will meet in a home-and-home series in 2024 and 2027. But now, a change has been made to that series.

AUSTIN - The Texas Longhorns have loaded up on the prime-time non-conference matchups over the last few seasons, agreeing to series with Alabama, Ohio State and Florida, among others. And on Tuesday, one of the biggest matchups on the list will see a change.

According to a release by the school, the series against the Michigan Wolverines, originally announced in 2014, will now have the locations switched, with the Wolverines now hosting the Longhorns at Michigan Stadium in September of 2024.

Meanwhile, the 2027 matchup will now occur in Austin at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium and is set for Sept. 11.

The Longhorns and Wolverines currently rank as two of the winningest programs in college football history, with Michigan ranking No. 1 with 989 wins, while Texas is fifth all-time with 936.

The two programs have only met on the field once before, with the Longhorns emerging victorious with a 38-37 win at the 2005 Rose Bowl after a heroic performance from quarterback Vince Young.

Young ended that day passing for 372 yards and five TDs, and rushing for 192 yards and four TDs on the ground, while kicker Dusty Mangum hit the game-winning field goal to give the Longhorns their first BCS victory.

Texas, of course, would go on to use the momentum from that win to capture its first national title since 1970.
