The Texas Longhorns are standing pat in their place at No. 7 in the third edition of the College Football Playoff rankings released Tuesday.

Here are the top 10 of the new rankings:

No. 1 -  Georgia Bulldogs

No. 2 - Ohio State Buckeyes

No. 3 - Michigan Wolverines

No. 4 - Washington Huskies

No. 5 - Florida State Seminoles

No. 6 - Oregon Ducks

No. 7 - Texas Longhorns

No. 8 - Alabama Crimson Tide

No. 9 - Missouri Tigers

No. 10 - Louisville Cardinals

Texas (10-1) is coming off a 26-16 win over the Iowa State Cyclones on Saturday, as the Longhorns made their first venture onto the gridiron without star running back, Jonathon Brooks.

Regardless of injuries, the stakes remain high as ever for the Longhorns, as they control their destiny to the Big 12 title game, needing a win over Texas Tech Friday to seal their bid. Texas would need some of the teams ranked 1-6 in the CFP to lose and fall down the standings in order to have a real shot at the CFP.

The Longhorns have arguably the best resume win in the country after their 34-24 victory over then-No. 3 Alabama in Tuscaloosa on Sept. 9.

But the 34-30 loss to then-No. 12 Oklahoma is currently Texas' only blemish on the record amid a steep race that features current undefeated teams in Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Washington, and Florida State.

The Horns will have two more opportunities to impress the committee on Friday, and if they win there, in the Big 12 Championship Game.
