Where Texas Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers Ranks Among Top College Football Signal Callers

Texas Longhorn quarterback Quinn Ewers has seen a slight decline in where he ranks among the other best quarterbacks in the country.

From the moment Quinn Ewers committed to Texas (the first time) but ended up flipping to Ohio State, there has been an otherworldly amount of hype surrounding him.

The now-starting Texas quarterback was touted as the perfect recruit thanks to his combination of arm strength and accuracy, and while he has shown each off at times, it's safe to say that Ewers hasn't reached his full form yet. Something that has only become more evident as of late, as all signs point to Ewers running it back for a third year at Texas. Not to mention, in the latest quarterback rankings by On3, Ewers is spotted near the bottom of the top 25 despite being viewed as one of the top quarterbacks to start the year.

Now to be fair, Ewers did miss a couple of games due to an injury suffered in Texas' game against Houston. When he came back there was clearly some rust that added to his already prevalent deficiencies. Heading into Week 13, On3's Andrew Graham ranked Ewers as the No. 16 quarterback, behind notable names such as Ohio State's Kyle McCord, Ole Miss' Jaxson Dart, and Michigan's J.J. McCarthy.

He is however ranked above names like Cam Ward from Washington State and Sam Hartman from Notre Dame.

While these rankings don't mean anything for how important Ewers is for Texas, it does shine some light on the fact that there is still more to be desired from Texas' signal caller. Ewers has thrown for 2,513 yards and 16 touchdowns with just four interceptions this season, while completing 70% of his passes. He has also rushed for five touchdowns on the year.

He and the Longhorns have a chance to crash the College Football Playoff if they win out and other things around the country go their way, but for now, they are focused on their season finale against Texas Tech.
