Oddsmakers Favoring Longhorns in 2024 Win Total Projections

The Texas Longhorns' 2024 season evaluated by FanDuel with Las Vegas win totals putting them at 10.5 wins.

While the AP poll won't be out until August, it's prime time to consider the top 25 teams for the 2024 college football season. Preseason win totals from FanDuel provide a peek into who Vegas sees as poised for success. The usual suspects top the list, with no team projected to win more than 10.5 games, making an undefeated season unnecessary to hit the over.

With conference realignment and the 12-team College Football Playoff underway, the upcoming season promises added excitement. If the frontrunners live up to expectations, they'll be in contention for the national championship in December and January.

The buzz surrounding Texas football has reached a fever pitch, with FanDuel setting the Longhorns' win total for the 2024 season at an impressive 10.5 wins - tied for the highest number on the country alongside Georgia, Oregon and Ohio State.

This projection might have seemed improbable just two years ago, especially as Texas embarked on its journey in the SEC.

Yet, thanks to a combination of factors, including a favorable schedule and the program's ascension to college football prominence, the Longhorns are now viewed as a force in the conference.

What's particularly noteworthy is Texas' schedule, which appears to be stacked in their favor. With matchups against four SEC teams that posted losing records in 2023—namely, Vanderbilt (2-10), Arkansas (4-8), Mississippi State (5-7), and Florida (5-7)—the Longhorns have an opportunity to capitalize on favorable matchups. Moreover, their schedule features only three true road games, providing additional advantages.

The return of starting quarterback Quinn Ewers is another factor working in Texas' favor. Ewers, heralded as one of the top quarterbacks in college football, brings experience, leadership, and playmaking ability to the team.

Coupled with an elite offensive line and the addition of six starter-caliber transfers, the Longhorns boast a formidable roster poised for success in the upcoming season. With all these pieces in place, Texas appears primed for a breakout campaign as it navigates its inaugural season in the SEC.

Texas made a grand exit from the Big 12, clinching their first conference championship since 2009 and narrowly missing out on a shot at the national title by a whisker. As they gear up to join the SEC, the Longhorns are poised for another thrilling season on the 40 Acres, with odds-makers betting on their continued success.
