UCLA Football: Downey-Based Star Sophomore Offered By Bruins

Bruins made an offer to this local talent.

The UCLA Bruins have made an offer to local talent from Downey, California. According to Bruin Blitz's Tracy McDannald, the Bruins have made an offer to 2026 defensive tackle Malik Brooks.

Brooks shared the news via his personal X account.

Brooks also received an offer from Alabama hours after receiving the one from the Bruins. The sophmore denfeisve takcle is not ranked yet accoridnf to Rivals. However, it's only a matter of time before that changes. He stands at 6-foot-3 and weighs 325 pounds. Brooks told McDannald what the offer from the Bruins meant to him.

"It was a shocking experience, something I never thought would happen in another lifetime even. But all glory to God and these blessings," Brooks told Bruin Blitz on Friday about the whirlwind day.

Brooks attends St. Pius X—St. Matthias Academy, which is in the heart of Downey, just 27 miles southeast of UCLA. He visited UCLA and said he developed a relationship with first-year head coach DeShaun Foster and defensive coordinator Ikaika Malloe. The sophomore also said he could see himself fitting into what the Bruins' defense is cooking up.

"The thing that stood out to me the most was the hospitality all around," Brooks said of the UCLA visit. "We related on a lot of things.
"I see myself fitting into the defensive scheme perfectly. I like the system they got going."

The SoCal native has a long way to go and should only get better from here on out.
