UCLA Football: Bruins Lose Director of Recruiting to Oregon

The Bruins have lost a new hire a month after bringing him on.

A month after the UCLA Bruins hired Darren Uscher to be their new director of recruiting, he is now heading to their Pac-12 rival. Uscher is leaving Westwood behind to take on a new personnel and recruiting position with his former school.

It could be that Uscher had plans to work with Chip Kelly, who has since left UCLA to be the offensive coordinator at Ohio State. With DeShaun Foster as new HC, Uscher may have been more inclined to leave.

Oregon might have also offered Uscher a promotion from the position he was set to take with the Bruins. Uscher has previously served in a personnel and scouting position at Oregon, Auburn, and Boise State.

He clearly has the kind of experience that many teams consider to be highly valuable, and Oregon was able to pull him back from UCLA.

Foster might be wanting to also build his own staff to take the Bruins into a new era, and that might not have included Uscher. Either way, the Bruins will have to find a new director of recruiting.
