Your UCLA Bruins men's basketball program has been struggling mightily at this point in the 2023-24 season. Mick Cronin's 2022-23 club was loaded with star seniors, along with a smattering of high-level then-freshman prospects, but the scales seem to be tilted too far in the direction of fresh faces. UCLA has added eight new players, including seven freshmen.

The two most highly-touted new additions, 7'3" Spanish center Aday Mara and 6'9" Turkish forward Berke Buyuktuncel, have underwhelmed to start. Mara, previously expected to be an NBA lottery pick this summer, is a fringe rotation player. Buyuktuncel is starting, but has yet to really piece things together as a scorer, averaging just 6.5 points on 37.7% shooting from the field.

UCLA's new strategy of using a recruit-heavy, high-turnover roster may not be working this year, but that hasn't impeded the school from looking for its next great get.

Per Bruin Report Online, the team's new pool of prospects includes local four-star recruit Mazi Mosley, a 6'5" junior shooting guard out of St. Francis in La Cañada.

Mosley, who is also fielding offers from Oklahoma, Arizona State, and San Diego State, registered his surprise at even receiving an offer.

“To be honest, I was happy for sure, but I was a little shocked when I heard the news of [Cronin] offering me.”

Mosley is considered the No. 11 shooting guard in the nation, and the No. 62 overall prospect among the high school class of 2025 overall, according to 247Sports.
