Throwing out the first pitch at a baseball game is a national pastime for athletes. When they arrive in a new city or the baseball team just wants to honor them, it’s a cool way to connect. We see it all the time when athletes from other sports get the chance to throw out the first pitch before a game, and it makes for a fun moment.

Recently at a Miami Marlins game, former Bruins star Jamie Jaquez Jr. got the chance to throw out the first pitch in front of his future home fans. Jaquez Jr. was selected by the Miami Heat with the 18th overall pick in this year's NBA Draft, and the team couldn’t be more excited.

He brought the heat to the Marlins game, and the fans got to see their new player. You can check out pictures of his pitch and the video below!

The team was excited to be able to select him with their first-round pick, as they view him as a solid pick of their puzzle going forward. Bruin fans remember him as the leader of their team for the past few seasons and they can’t wait to see what he will do in the NBA.

The city of Miami got a hard-working player that will give his all each time out on the court. This was a nice way for him to introduce himself to the city, and the fans surely enjoyed seeing it.

He will be missed at UCLA, but Jaquez Jr. is welcome back on campus anytime he wants. The NBA schedule isn’t out yet, but when the Heat travel to Southern California to take on the Lakers and Clippers, he may stop by.
