On Friday, your UCLA Bruins men's basketball team suited up against the Maryland Terrapins, falling 69-60 to dip below a .500 record on the year, for a disappointing 5-6 run as they wrapped up non-conference regular season play. Maryland, meanwhile, improved to an 8-4 record for the 2023-24 NBA season thus far.

Second-year Maryland head coach Kevin Willard spoke after the contest about how the club knew they would be in for the Bruins' best effort, as UCLA was looking to stave off a fourth straight loss (which it obviously failed to do), per UCLA Communications.

Willard revealed that the Terrapins' priority was feeding senior point guard Jahmir Young early and often. He eventually wrapped up the game by notching 37 points.

“We knew that they [UCLA] came off a tough loss, so we really wanted to have the ball in Jahmir’s hands at the beginning of the game," Willard said. "He did a great job and getting our guys going. We have had a problem in the past starting games strongly.”

The 6'1" upperclassman scored 37 points on 13-of-19 field goal shooting (4-of-6 from deep) and 7-of-9 foul shooting, grabbed seven rebounds, dished out three assists, and swiped one steal.
