UCLA Women's Soccer: 2 Bruins Stars Earn Major Conference Honors

Two UCLA Bruins women's soccer standouts are already making waves in the early going of their 2023 season, as the program looks to repeat its 2022 national championship run this year.
5'9" graduate forward Ally Cook was just named the Pac-12 Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this year, while 5'7" junior defender Quincy McMahon, who just celebrated a birthday on Tuesday, was honored as the Pac-12 Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row and the third on the season, according to a UCLA press statement.
Cook scored two goals in UCLA's most recent match, a 3-1 road win against Colorado last Friday. She's the club's overall leading scorer this season, with five goals and 11 points, which ranks her fourth in the Pac-12.
McMahon's swarming defensive coverage has helped UCLA clamp down on the opposition all year. The Bruins have limited seven of the eight programs they've played to a mere five or fewer shot attempts.
Next up, the fifth-ranked Bruins (7-1 overall, 1-0 in Pac-12 play) will hit the road for two matchups in Washington State. The first tips off tonight at 7 p.m., when UCLA will play the 5-2 Washington Huskies. The second, against the 7-2 Washington State University Cougars (the 23rd-ranked club in the nation), will be a noon matinee on Sunday.
