UCLA Women's Volleyball: NCAA Indoor Champ Returns Home As Assistant Coach

She returns!

Even when an athlete that has suited up for the UCLA Bruins for a number of seasons graduates and moves on, it does not mean that their connection with the university is over. Their degrees and time spent with their respective team are etched into the history books forever and chances are that they return to visit at some point down the line.

There are even cases where a player embodied the culture of one of the Bruins' sports programs so much that they return later in life as part of the coaching staff to share their knowledge and past experiences with the next generation of members on the roster.

Your UCLA women's volleyball team is experiencing this in real time as Kelly Reeves, 2011 indoor champion, has been hired as their new assistant coach.

Kelly was also named their first All-American back in the 2013 season and she embarked on her coaching journey two years after that when she joined WAVE volleyball's staff and then helped a number of other teams in the Los Angeles region.

However, it just felt right for her to return to her alma mater at this point in her life and head coach Jenny Johnson Jordan could not be more thrilled to have her by her side.

"This is a full circle moment having Kelly join the UCLA Beach Volleyball program as an assistant coach," said Johnson Jordan. "As a student-athlete at UCLA and a current professional beach volleyball player, Kelly has always been a fierce competitor and student of the game and I am excited for the great impact I know she will have with this program."(Via UCLA Press Release)

Hopefully this year's squad can reach similar heights as Kelly during own playing career with UCLA.
