UCLA Women's Basketball: All-Pac-12 Colorado Guard Departs Game With Injury

In this story:
All-Pac-12 Colorado Buffaloes star graduate student guard Jaylyn Sherrod landed hard while getting fouled during a layup late in the second quarter of your 14-1 UCLA Bruins' ongoing matchup with the third-seeded club in the land.
She drew blood and departed the game to be examined by her club's trainer. Friday Formann subbed in to shoot Sherrod's free through, per Brian Howell of Buffzone.
Sherrod, a two-time Pac-12 All-Defensive Teamer and a 2023 All-Pac-12 honoree, is one of the club's most robust scorers. The 5'7" guard eventually returned to the game later in the half, drawing cheers from her home crowd.
Colorado leads by a sliver, 35-32, at the end of the opening half. UCLA has had trouble getting much offense going outside of star Bruins guard Charisma Osborne, who's basically been carrying the club.
Through 16 games, the Birmingham, Alabama native is averaging 13.8 points on 49% shooting from the floor and 80.3% shooting from the charity stripe, along with 5.6 dimes and 2.8 boards a night.
Osborne is currently the only Bruin in double digits, with 13 points on 5-of-6 field goal shooting and 2-of-2 free throw shooting.
Formann paces Colorado with 10 points on 3-of-6 shooting from the floor (2-of-5 from beyond the arc), while Sherrod has nine of her own on 3-of-8 shooting from the field and 2-of-2 from the foul line.
