UCLA Women's Basketball: Bruins Guard Awarded Major School-Wide Honor

And it's well-deserved!

UCLA Bruins women's basketball guard Charisma Osborne has been named the school's Student-Athlete of the Week for the period from January 15th-22nd, per UCLA Communications.

Osborne scored 22 points, a game high, during her 15-2 team's lone contest of the week. In vanquishing the No. 3-ranked (at the time) Colorado Buffaloes on Friday by a final margin of 76-68, Osborne's Bruins tied a program record for the highest-ranked victory in school history.

This marks Osborne's seventh Student-Athlete of the Week honor. The all-time record tally for a UCLA student is 10, shared by former UCLA men's basketball small forward Jaime Jaquez Jr. and former Bruins star gymnast Kyla Ross.

Thus far this season, Osborne is averaging 14.6 points on .414/.370/.862 shooting splits, 5.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.9 steals a night.

She's a three-time All-Pac-12 honoree and a 2023 Pac-12 All-Defense team inclusion. At her current clip, she seems likely to add further accolades to her resume by year's end. And maybe, with a little luck, some NCAA Tournament title hardware, too. Osborne's hardly doing it alone. Sophomore standouts Kiki Rice and Lauren Betts both seem likely to earn some end-of-year honors of their own, too.

Next up for the No. 2-ranked Bruins is a matchup against the 12-5 Washington Huskies (2-4 in the Pac-12), slated for this Friday.
