Your UCLA Bruins women's basketball program entered the season on a wave of very high hopes, returning most of their 2022-23 core that took them to the Sweet Sixteen in last spring's NCAA Tournament.

Now, the No. 4-ranked team in the nation is 3-0 on the young season, having obliterated Bellarmine to the tune of a 113-64 massacre Saturday. The club was led by Gabriela Jaquez's career-high 30-point, 12-rebound double-double, plus 22 points and 11 rebounds from ex-Stanford transfer Lauren Betts, along with 24 points and 10 boards incumbent guard Charisma Osborne.

But even after this hot start, head coach Cori Close isn't satisfied, per The Associated Press.

“We have unlimited ceiling,” Close said. “The gap between our potential and our habits keeps closing. We obviously have a lot of talent but let’s get tighter.”

Despite, again, a 49-point blowout, Close was specifically frustrated with the Blue and Gold's performance on one side of the ball.

“Our defense, we have a ways to go,” Close continued. “We have got to be able to be more consistent... I just believe so much in what they can become but right now our consistency, our habits, have something to be desired."
