Standout UCLA Bruins center Lauren Betts, a 6'7" sophomore transfer out of Stanford, has just been honored as the Student-Athlete of the Week, covering the span of December 18th-24th, per UCLA Communications. This is already her fifth such honor since the 2023-24 NCAA season kicked off seven seasons ago.

During her two games last week, wins against the Ohio State Buckeyes on December 18th and against the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors on December 21st, Betts posted averages of 16.5 points on 76.2% shooting from the floor, nine rebounds, and three blocks a night.

Across 11 games for the 11-0 Bruins, Betts is averaging 16.9 points (tied for the 85th-highest scoring average in the land, though its first on her team) on 77.1% field goal shooting (the best such shooting mark in the country), 9.2 rebounds (44th in the nation), two blocks and 0.8 dimes per bout.

Betts' teammate, sophomore guard Kiki Rice, is the only other women's basketball player to earn the honor for UCLA athletics this year, earning the accolade on November 27th.

Next up for Betts, Rice and the rest of their No. 2-ranked Bruins is a bout against the No. 6-ranked USC Trojans (10-0) this coming Saturday. Only one other Pac-12, the 10-0 Oregon State Beavers, is without a loss on the year as conference play looms.
