In this story:

The rise of NIL deals around college athletics has taken the games by storm, and finally, the athletes are profiting off their own brand and image. For too long, the NCAA exploited college athletes, but now they are receiving financial compensation for their efforts.

The amounts going around are insane, but the pull of college sports is massive. Football and basketball lead the way, but there is one gymnastics athlete as well.

One would think that an established star in college athletics would be the highest-earning player for NIL deals, but in reality, it's a freshman who hasn't even touched the court yet. That would be USC guard Bronny James, the son of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.

“Topping all athletes in value is actually USC Bronny James, the eldest son of Los Angeles Lakers great LeBron James. According to On3 Sports, Bronny holds an NIL valuation of $5.9 million, which bests all other collegiate athletes.”

Per Andrew Buller-Ross of Sportsnaut

The pull Bronny has is unlike anything in recent memory, largely because of who his dad is. Nonetheless, he uses his brand to his advantage, and I'm here for it all.

James is a good player in his own right, and if he performs well this season, he will be getting NBA Draft buzz for next season. NBA teams know that if they get Bronny into their organization, the elder James could join them. He has expressed his desire to play alongside his son in the NBA, so there is always a chance.

It remains to be seen if he suits up for the Trojans this season because of a cardiac arrest attack he suffered months ago. But there is hope that he can play down the line, and fans hope to see him on the floor as soon as it is safe.
