USC Basketball: How Bronny James Could Play Alongside LeBron Next Season

There is a way for Bronny to play alongside his dad at the pro level.

There is a possibility that this could be the last we see of USC freshman guard Bronny James donning the Cardinal red and gold. The speculation of whether he will enter the NBA following the 2024 season is rising.

The only question is if he leaves for the NBA, will he play alongside his dad, NBA icon and Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James?

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, there is a way for the two James men to play alongside each other next season in the NBA.

“I know of at least two teams on the NBA map that believe LeBron James would consider signing with them at far less than $51.4 million if Bronny James is on the roster,” Stein wrote. “There might be more.”

It's unclear which two teams would consider signing James.

It would mean the elder James would need to take a pay cut to join his son, depending on where his son, Bronny, lands.

According to the NBA's latest mock draft, Bronny James is not projected to be drafted. However, that may benefit the younger James as he will be an undrafted free agent and could choose anywhere he wants to go, which could benefit him and his father.

As for Lebron, he can become an unrestricted free agent this summer if he declines his 2024-2025 player option with the Los Angeles Lakers. However, the Lakers have been adamant about wanting James to retire as a Laker.

It's unsure how much weight Bronny holds in all this. But LeBron has expressed how much he wants to play with his son in the NBA. If the Lakers want to keep James, they may need to put up with Bronny.

It's all talk and speculation right now, but if Bronny declares for the draft this summer, major discussions will be had between the four-time MVP and the Lakers.
