USC Basketball: How LeBron James Feels About Bronny’s Expected NBA Draft Position
Los Angeles Laker superstar forward LeBron James didn't mince any words about ESPN removing his son, USC freshman guard Bronny James, from their 2024 mock draft (Jonathan Givony did, however, recently list Bronny at No. 39 in his 2025 mock).
LeBron took to Twitter/X to voice his opinion on the mock draft with two irritated-sounding tweets, defending his son in the process.
James later deleted the tweets.
The USC freshman guard came into campus as one of the most highly anticipated athletes.
His start to his college basketball career has not been ideal. Add in the cardiac arrest he suffered in July 2023, and it hasn't been pretty.
Luckily, Bronny returned to the court only a few months later and has a sustained role in the Trojans. But, of course, the focus isn't on Bronny's current USC career; the focus is on his inevitable NBA career.
It's uncertain whether he will decide to declare to the draft or not.
According to ESPN's 2025 mock draft, they have Bronny playing one more year in college and declaring next year to the draft. However, the possibility of the 6'4" Sierra Canyon School product declaring this year has some real smoke to it.
LeBron has been adamant about wanting to play with his son at the NBA level. With the four-time NBA champion not getting any younger, the next NBA season may be the best time to do it.
If that happens, Bronny and LeBron would be the first father-son duo to ever play together in the NBA. Bronny will decide what he wants to do next in the coming months.
