USC Basketball: Draymond Green Speaks Out On Bronny James' NBA Draft Decision

Soon-to-be-former USC basketball freshman guard Bronny James recently announced that he is declaring for the 2024 NBA draft while also maintaining his NCAA eligibility to enter the transfer portal. Since Bronny announced his decision, lots of analysts and players have weighed in on Bronny's decision, and have wondered if it would be prudent for him to enter the draft at this point.

The critics will point out that Bronny was inconsistent during his freshman season at USC, and likely would not get drafted if he wasn't the son of 20-time All-star forward LeBron James. He averaged 19.4 minutes, 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game for the Trojans. Of course, Bronny also began his season late after suffering cardiac arrest prior to his first season at USC.

One player in support of Bronny potentially entering the NBA draft this year is Golden State Warriors forward/center Draymond Green. Green, a four-time All-Star and probable future Hall of Famer, believes Bronny's ability as a defender and the lack of talent in this year's draft makes this a great time for him to enter the draft.

"Bronny 100% will be a successful player in the NBA. Number one, he knows how to work," Green said on his podcast The Draymond Green Show. "If you don't think he knows how to work, go look at Bronny from his freshman year to sophomore, sophomore to junior, junior to senior. There, you'll see a kid who knows how to work because you can see the improvement in his game, his body, his athleticism. At worst, Bronny is an NBA level defender that can knock a shot down ... Bronny got a really good shot. Didn't shoot the ball all that great this year, but his mechanics are great, he's always shot the ball great ... I also think it's a smart move for him to go in this NBA Draft because this NBA Draft wil go down probably as one of the worst in NBA history from a top talent standpoint. There's not even a consensus No. 1 pick. I think it's a great decision and I definitely think Bronny will be a successful NBA player."

Ultimately, it will be Bronny's decision on whether or not to remain in the NCAA or enter through the transfer portal. What is certain is that Bronny will no longer be with USC next year.
