Duce Robinson picks USC, Trojans land nation's top tight end prospect

Robinson, who stands at 6-foot-6 and weighs 225 pounds, chose USC over his other finalists - Georgia, Alabama, Oregon and Texas

At long last, tight end Duce Robinson, the top unsigned recruit in the 2023 class, has picked a school. The Pinnacle High School (Phoenix) standout has signed with the USC Trojans.

Robinson's experienced a whirlwind recruitment due to not only having to choose a school, but also having to choose a sport. In addition to being a top football recruit, Robinson is also a stand-out baseball prospect. There's still a chance he gets selected during the MLB Draft in July and forgoes playing college football. But by signing with USC, Robinson now has the option of playing football and baseball with the Trojans for the next three years.

Robinson, who stands at 6-foot-6 and weighs 225 pounds, chose USC over his other finalists - Georgia, Alabama, Oregon and Texas. He's ranked as a five-star prospect and the nation's No. 17 overall recruit, per 247Sports.com's composite.

Robinson has the potential to transcend the tight end position at USC, a position that wasn't utilized all that much in head coach Lincoln Riley's first season. Robinson will compete with Lake McRee for playing time as a freshman if he ends up at USC. The Trojans may use both players in certain sets this fall.

By landing Robinson as well as five-star receiver Zachariah Branch, five-star quarterback Malachi Nelson and four-star receiver Makai Lemon this cycle, USC's first true recruiting class under Riley has laid a very strong offensive foundation for the future. Those four players are the headliners of a very strong class.

Here's a portion of 247Sports.com's scouting report on Robinson as a college football recruit:

"His athleticism allows him to line up in the slot, outside and in the core of the formation to be a constant threat against the defense and provide mismatches that can be exploited. Whether it’s a corner, linebacker or safety covering him, Robinson’s chance to win are far greater than those of his opponent...Robinson has unlimited potential. With his skill set and physical abilities, he could be an all-conference performer for multiple years. I see him as a player that has NFL ability and should be an early-round pick in his future."
