The USC Trojans' defense has experienced a remarkable transformation in just a matter of weeks. Following their Week 0 win over San Jose State, where they allowed 396 yards and 23 first downs without generating any turnovers, many questioned the defense's performance and wondered if it was going to be another disappointing season.

However, fast forward three weeks, and the USC defense is now the talk of the town for all the right reasons. In their recent game, they put on an impressive display by causing three turnovers and limiting their opponent to 349 yards. Most of these yards were gained in the latter part of the game when the outcome was already decided.

The entire defense seemed to be flying around the field, but USC insider Scott Wolf singled out a few defenders who particularly impressed him.

Solomon Byrd

isn’t the first name mentioned when people talk about the defensive line but he had four tackles, three for loss, a sack and a forced fumble last night.

Byrd’s backup,

Romello Height

, also had three tackles.

Jamil Muhammad

has started at rush end the past two games ahead of

Anthony Lucas

, the transfer from Texas A&M. Muhammad had a sack and forced fumble last night.

Bear Alexander

had a deflected pass and two tackles. Defensive end

Jack Sullivan

, a transfer from Purdue, has played three games without a tackle. He gets playing time from the coaches so they must like what they see.

Korey Foreman

also did not have a tackle last night but he is third string so he plays less.

This improved defensive showing has propelled USC from the 6th spot to the 5th spot in the rankings, and they aim to keep climbing with the defense playing a crucial role.

These six guys, plus the other five on that side of the ball, will be key to USC's continued success.

As USC prepares for their upcoming game in Tempe, their defensive prowess will once again take center stage. The Trojans are determined to continue their impressive defensive performances and maintain their upward trajectory in the rankings.
